It was a nice morning after my day in the French Quarter. We headed out at 9 am to get to the Friendswood TX area, around 6 hours per the app. We started out and as soon as we got on the highway headed west the sky got pitch black, you know those thunderstorm clouds where it seems like it is darker than night, I really thought the enemy was trying to stop me on my mission. The rain started pouring down not cats and dogs, maybe cows and horses, the wind was whipping the trailer around and I was driving 45 on the highway. It was spooky! Made it through the storm after about an hour. Driving mile after mile on US10, which is mostly concrete slabs with spacers so it was (sound effects) ba-dump-ba-dump-ba-dump, which then turned into what seemed like days driving over bayou “bridge” with no place to escape. The bayous were pretty, and endless. Have I mentioned the love bugs? Apparently there is a kamikaze practice school for them between Baton Rouge and Houston, because about a billion of them sacrificed themselves to splatter my windshield and the front of the camper, where I could stop, I had to scrub off the windshield, because I could not see ( PS there were locals pulling into the gas stations and they probably drive by radar because they did not even clean their windshields off, how could they see??) Finally made it to the RV park (St Ives RV Park) in Alvin (why was I looking for chipmunks??) which is a nice place with a pool and a (pool) lazy river to float on. Of course, I was attacked by mosquitos and fire ants (Welcome to Texas). I thought a nice tour of NASA Johnson Space Center would be fun, so I planned for Monday. NASA- Johnson Space Center was really cool. Timeline of the 6 moon landings and of course the Artemis II mission has launched(lol) a new era of excitement over space.
